The short version: your email, your videos, and what you spent. Nothing is sold. What you make helps improve TallClip's own model only if you say yes - we ask once, and you can change it any time in Account settings. Anything you upload is never used for it.
Who runs TallClip
What is stored
- Your email address, so you can sign in.
- Scripts and ideas you chose to save.
- Videos you make, and pictures you upload.
- A record of credits earned and spent, which is how the balance is worked out.
- A record of each render, so a failed one can be refunded and a lost one recovered.
- Network information from when you sign in (such as your IP address), used to prevent fraud and fake accounts — for example, to keep creator earnings for real, independent people.
Visits are counted with PostHog (which pages are opened and where visitors came from) and errors are reported to Sentry, so problems can be found and fixed. So that one person on one device counts once, PostHog keeps a random ID in a TallClip cookie and your browser's storage. It is only used to count and improve TallClip - never for adverts, and never shared to follow you on other sites. If you are signed in, your visits are linked to your account. You can turn counting off with the button below. We also record how visitors use the site (clicks, scrolling, pages) with PostHog, to find where things go wrong. What you type into boxes is hidden; text shown back on the page, such as your scripts, may appear in recordings. Payment pages are never recorded (paying happens on Stripe's own site). Some pages may show adverts from Google AdSense - see Adverts below.
Who it gets sent to
Making a video means sending parts of it to the services that do the work:
- Anthropic — your topic and script, to write it, to translate it when you ask, and to check that the footage matches it.
- Google, ElevenLabs or Fish Audio — the script text, to turn into speech. Which one depends on the voice you picked.
- Replicate — the description of each AI picture or moving AI clip, and any picture it starts from, to make it.
- Replicate or Fish Audio — the sound of the finished voiceover, or of a long video you upload to Clips, to work out when each word is spoken so the captions and clips line up with the speech.
- Stock libraries, music libraries and public archives (such as Pexels) — the search words for each shot or track. Never your script, and never anything identifying you.
- Supabase for accounts and credits, Cloudflare R2 for the video files, Vercel and Railway for hosting.
- PostHog for counting visits and recording how the site is used (with typing hidden), and Sentry for error reports.
- Stripe — payments. Your card details go to Stripe, never to TallClip; we receive your email address, what you bought and whether it was paid.
- Resend — your email address and the message, to send account emails (such as welcome emails) and to pass your support requests on to us.
- YouTube (Google), and any other platform you connect (such as Instagram or TikTok) — only if you connect an account: the access it grants, the videos you choose to post with their titles and captions, and the view and like counts we read back.
How TallClip gets better
TallClip learns from how videos turn out: which styles get finished, which pictures people swap, which music gets skipped, and how many views posted videos get. That learning uses totals across everyone, with nothing that identifies you.
Your own scripts and picture choices - with how those videos did - are used to train TallClip's own model only if you say yes. It is off unless you do: we ask you once, after you sign in, and you can change your answer any time in your account menu, under Account settings. If you say no, or never answer, your videos are not used for this. It never includes your email or name, and things you upload are never used for it.
Things you upload
Pictures and clips you upload to use in your own videos stay private to your account. They are not shown to other people, not added to any shared pool, and not used to train a model. They are kept so you can reuse them in later videos, and removed when you delete them or your account. The exception is anything you upload on the Upload for credits page: that is offered to other people through the Creation Library, as described below.
The Creation Library
The Creation Library holds AI pictures and moving AI clips made on TallClip, and pictures and clips people upload for it, so they can be reused in other people's videos. The AI pictures and clips made for your videos go into it (see the terms) and can be found and used by others, shown with the description used to make them - not your name, unless you have registered as a creator. Never put in it: anything showing a real person's face, anything made for a Remake or a parody, your series characters, and uploads you haven't registered as your own.
Faces for Remake
When you add a face for Remake - yours, or yours at a friend's invitation - we keep the five-second recording of you saying you agree, with when it was made, the account it was for and a scrambled (hashed) form of your connection address. It is kept to prove you consented, and a still from it is used to make the Remakes you agreed to. It is checked automatically (by Claude, Anthropic's AI) and the still is sent to the AI model that makes the video (Replicate); neither is used to train a model.
If you withdraw, or ask us to delete it, the still is deleted straight away and the face can't be used again. The recording is deleted too, except where we need to keep it for a legal claim or a complaint about misuse - then only for as long as that takes. Withdraw a friend's face from the link you were given, or email us.
How long it is kept
Videos and uploads stay until you delete them or close your account. The credit ledger is kept as long as the account exists, because it is what the balance is calculated from. There is no automatic deletion of old videos yet — when that changes it will be said here and in the app first.
Permanent public records
TallClip keeps a permanent, tamper-proof record of what happens in the app in a public ledger that is copied by computers around the world and can't be altered. Anything about you - what you made and chose - is encrypted with a key that belongs to your account before it is written, so the record is unreadable to anyone else. Deleting your data deletes that key, which leaves those records unreadable for good, though the encrypted entries themselves stay in that public record. A finished video's fingerprint (a code worked out from the file, which can't be turned back into the video) is recorded openly, so anyone holding a copy can check it is the original. Pictures and clips in the Creation Library are also kept there as a smaller copy, encrypted with a key made for that item alone; only TallClip holds the key. When an item is removed from the Library or its file is deleted, the key is destroyed, so that copy can never be read again by anyone, us included. Faces recorded for Remake, consent recordings and voices are never kept this way. Videos you choose to save forever are covered in the terms.
Adverts
TallClip may show adverts from Google AdSense, which helps keep the free plan free. Google and its partners can use cookies to show adverts and to measure them, and - only if you agree - to make them personal to you. Visitors in the UK, the EU and Switzerland are asked first in Google's consent message, and can change their choice at any time from the privacy link it leaves on the page. How Google uses this information: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also turn off personalised adverts in Google's ad settings.
Cookies
TallClip's own cookies are what signing in needs, the visit-counting ID described above (which you can turn off), and small preferences stored in your own browser - the currency you picked, the last voice you used. Adverts from Google can add their own cookies, as described above, and only after you have agreed where the law asks for that.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for all of it to be deleted. You can delete your account yourself at any time from the account menu (Delete account), or email and it will be done — there is no retention period to wait out. Deleting your account deletes your videos, uploads, credits and connected accounts. Pictures and clips you chose to share to the public library stay in it, with your name taken off.
Children
This is not intended for under-13s. Younger children using it should do so on a parent's account, with the parent responsible for what is made and posted.
